Players in the U15-U21 divisions are provided opportunities to support participants in try hockey programs such as the NHL/NHLPA First Shift and Esso Fun Days. We assign “player coaches” to program participants to work one-on-one with them. This exposes the older players to a coaching environment while being mentored by on-ice certified coaches. For program participants, they are well supported during their first hockey experience and enjoy the camaraderie with the older player. For the player coaches, the time dedicated can be credited toward school requirements and it is a great experience to share on a resume. Bullet points can include:
- ensure a fun, supportive and safe first hockey experience for children 6-10 years
- provide dressing room support to players and parents to ensure equipment is put on correctly and answer related questions
- assist facilitating drills and skills for 45 participants
- provide one-on-one support to reluctant participants
CRFMHA is thrilled to be hosting Esso Fun Days in April.
We are looking for "player coaches" to work one-on-one with our brand new hockey players. Ideally you can commit to all six sessions. Ice times are listed below and will be held at Pearkes Recreation Centre, times and dates below. Please plan for extra time on April 22 as we will host a graduation / wrap-up ceremony.
